Nathalie is an English actress born at Southend-on-Sea (Essex), England. Her father is Saint Lucian-English descent, and her mother was Dominican. Nathalie says that her mother was being the first motivation for becoming an actress. At the age of 10, she played Young Nala in The Lion King, a West End production of The Lion King. Sasha Valentine was her first television role in Hollyoaks, the 1995 teen soap opera. It premiered on TV in 2006. Emmanuel was a part of the show until 2010, in which her plotlines focused on sexual prostitution and heroin addiction. Nathalie presented BBC Three's Web-sex Where's the Risk in the Web?, which examined online sexual practices of young people aged 16 to 24 across the UK. Later in the same year she made her film debut in the suspense film Twenty8. She was then cast in the fantasy show Game of Thrones (2011, HBO) as Missandei Targaryen as Daenerys translator. As of 2015, Emmanuel has been promoted to as a regular character in the series. In the same year, she appeared as Computer hacker Ramsey in the action film Furious 7 (2015) and Harriet in the sequel to sci-fi Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015). FHM magazine named Emmanuel as a 99th place in their list of 100 Sexiest Women in 2013. In April, 2015 she was featured in InStyle magazine as well as GQ.
